History of Lingerie
|
|
|
Underwear as we know it is a relatively new concept. Your grandmother probably never combine the word sexy and lingerie in the same sentence. In the first part of the 20th century, women's undergarments designed for functionality rather than sensuality. None, with the possible exception of a Moulin Rouge can Dancer, bought the underwear visible there. Until 1960, women's underwear for three general purposes:

- Form
- hygiene
- Modesty |
Lingerie corsets and Girdle
|
 |
Form submitted by the union of the body to compress the heart and move the meat from the waist to the chest and hips. From 16 to 19-century, this was achieved by corsets lingerie, a device for tightening the waist of a woman with only 16 or 17 inches (40-43 cm). Some men and women who practice "tight wire," a practice to train your body to accept ever-closer and reach a much exaggerated hourglass shape, as shown in the commentary cartoon from 1893 is shown below. For many, however, lingerie corsets painful and restricted movement. During the 1920s, corsets lingerie gradually replaced by the strip. The girdle also shaped body, but used elastic material rather than bonds, which were much more comfortable and less extreme. The belt was intended to soften up the body of a woman, and give it a more attractive route. The band started either on the shoulders as seen in the image, or at the waist. Ending with a hook and eye type (such as bras today) or zippers, as shown in the picture. At the bottom of the waist was generally fasteners that clipped to stockings to hold them in place. In the 1960s, the band gradually disappeared and was replaced by the strip. The belt was replaced by medium that will be discussed in detail later. |
Brassiere
There is much controversy about who invented the bra. Henry Lesher is credited by some with the patentee until the 1859th While his design looks more or less like a bra (even if a carrier does not look like a woman), it was primarily intended as a "breast pad and shield perspiration." Although it was also designed to "give a symmetrical rotundity" it was not designed to support breastfeeding. Many attribute the invention of the modern bra to Mary Phelps Jacob mostly because her patent was the first to use the French term "support". Her invention was backless and held in place by straps wrapped around the woman and tied up to. But as he writes in his description of the patent, February 12, 1914 his invention was used with evening dresses that are low cut back and intended to "cover up corset underwear and keep the user properly." Again, she does not mention breast support. Still others believe that the bra was invented by Herminie Cadolle 1889th Interestingly, the company he founded, Cadolle Paris, still exists today, but no mention of Herminie invention was made in the company's website. When contacted for comment or information, the company said. Marie Tucek patented a breast supporter 1893rd While the design is very similar in design to the bras today, there are some design flaws. Marie Tucek garment was never marketed and would probably not have succeeded if it had been. Olivia P. Flynt writes in his patent January 10, 1876 (38 years before James, 17 years before Tucek and Cadolle 13 years earlier), that his invention is "specially designed as a bust support and better" ... "Preserving and produce a beautiful pattern and feel more comfortable than corsets lingerie." Also writes "this garment is specially tailored for women with large breasts, and used in their place and take the place of a corset lingerie, so the beauty of form to be used instead, and take place a corset underwear." "The garment maintains the bust has shoulders or pressure .... and the bottom of the bust." The woman described the support not just at first, but the foundations for today. Of course Olivia Flynt in 1876 thought and invented the bra today! Olivia was the holder of no fewer than six patents clothes and was a successful manufacturer of lingerie. |

Panties Lingerie
|
Until 1970, women's underwear (panties Vanity Fair in the United States, Vanity Fair panties, England) was a key objective: to protect and clean your jacket. Vanity Fair Not sexy or attractive, which were originally intended to be functional. In 1800 they were called "drawers". Some boxes were Vanity Fair, the whole body suits, while others just came to the waist. Usually had the kind of Vanity Fair, no fins at the rear convenient, as shown in Vanity Fair, so the user does not need to undress when you use the toilet. Drawers Vanity Fair Vanity Fair panties, and had one thing in common that is almost unknown today, was the underwear in Vanity Fair extended to cover part of the thigh as seen in this 1935 ad for underwear briefs Vanity Fair, where three leg lengths are offered. As time passed, underwear less and less. First, he became the thigh covering shorter until the 1950s that completely disappeared and panty Vanity Fair was born. But even then panties were large Vanity Fair, large and unattractive as can be seen in this 1956 ad for "writings" Lollipops ladies. In the 1960s, began business as Frederick of Hollywood to glorify underwear. In this ad from 1961, is the lingerie chain clearly. Although there is an element of common place for many decades the chain, or chain of glamor that Frederick's his name, is proof of that lady's underwear have gone from full body covering invisible to the essentials. Where will they go from here? |
Pantyhose
The miracle is that it combines the resources for the first time, panties and stockings into one garment. Until the end of 1950, the band got smaller and lighter, but funds are a separate issue to be clipped to a belt or girdle league as seen in this ad from 1953 for leather belts, silk panties. In 1959 created the Glen Raven combined lingerie with stockings and tights, the first as seen in their ad below which states that "in September 1964 and is still struggling with the links? Is not it time you tried Glen Raven Panties-leg?" |

Lingerie Parties
|
A fun and sexy idea for a party lingerie
Have you heard of lingerie parties? No, we are not talking about a Playboy DVD, featuring playmates running around in thongs. We mean a theme party lingerie you can organize for a Bachelorette Night, a Bridal Lingerie Shower or just for the fun of it. There are basically three ways to go:
* Invite a sales person from a lingerie boutique to host it for you.
* Hire a party consultant.
* Do it yourself!
Doing it yourself is probably the least expensive and most enjoyable and we can suggest two websites to help you.
First, a website to get ideas on how to organize a lingerie party.
Second, an American-Intimate-Apparel to buy supplies for lingerie parties, bridal lingerie, plus size lingerie and more. |
